MORNING ROUNDUP: George W. Bush to Promote New Memoir on ‘Oprah’

- George W. Bush will discuss his new memoir, Decision Points, on The Oprah Winfrey Show, according to the Drudge Report, which has excerpts. In the first chapter, entitled “Quitting,” he recalls asking himself, “It was a easy question, ‘Can you remember the last day you did not have a drink?’” The former president doesn’t mention Barack Obama, according to Drudge.

“It was a easy question, ‘Can you remember the last day you did not have a drink?’” Bush writes in the first chapter of his memoir, called “Quitting.”

- AOL will debut a new homepage Monday in light of declines in ad revenue and traffic to its properties, the Wall Street Journal reports. The new design will feature its original news and more entertainment content, including from its partnerships with Justin Bieber and Ellen DeGeneres.

- Less than a week before election day, Republican gubernatorial nominee Meg Whitman states her former illegal housekeeper should be deported. In an appearance on Fox News Thursday, Whitman stated Nicky Diaz Santillan “forged documents and she lied about her immigration status.” She went on, “And it breaks my heart. Gloria Allred pulled off a political stunt. And you know what? On Nov. 3, no one’s going to care about Nicky Diaz. But the law is the law and we live in the rule of law. It’s important.”

- CNN anchors Kyra Phillips and John Roberts, who got engaged in April, are anticipating twins, they confirmed to People. CNN Newsroom’s Phillips and Roberts, a co-anchor on American Morning, state they are “very excited.”

- Audrina Patridge’s mom has apologized for her drunken rant after her daughter was voted off Dancing With the Stars. “I am sincerely sorry for the negative things I stated in the heat of the moment,” Lynn Patridge, who admitted she’d consumed three glasses of wine before delivering an impromptu speech outside L.A.’s Beso restaurant Tuesday, stated in a statement ot UsMagazine.com. “As a mother, there is no pain in this world like seeing your kids upset. I am so proud of my daughter and all she has accomplished on Dancing with the Stars. I was extremely emotional after her elimination — it just came as such a shock. I want to apologize for offending anyone.”
