Ontario captures Canada Winter Games title

The Canada Winter Games have wrapped up in Halifax with Ontario capturing the Flag as top-scoring province.

Ontario edged out Quebec over the course of the two week competition 312 points to 301, while British Columbia came third with 235 points.

Flag points are based on scores recorded by every athlete that participates in an event, not just top three finishes.

However, Quebec easily completed first in the overall medal count picking up 137 including 51 gold, while Ontario won 110 medals and B.C. 88.

Host Nova Scotia was awarded the Centennial Cup as the most improved province after picking up a total of 12 medals and the province also won the award for ideal sportsmanship.

The 2013 Summer Games will be held in Sherbrooke, Que., while Prince George, B.C., will host the 2015 Winter Games.
