Supreme Court turns away suit seeking Puerto Rico congressional vote

The Supreme Court will not hear an appeal from residents of Puerto Rico seeking to gain a voting representative in Congress.  The high court turned away the appeal from Gregorio Igartua and other Puerto Ricans on Monday.  Territorial status allows residents of Puerto Rico U.S. citizenship, but they pay no federal income taxes and can’t vote in presidential elections. Cessna Lands on Military Airfield in Belarus

A private Cessna-172 airplane landed on a military airfield in Belarus without permission, the Belta news bureau reported on Monday. The pilot, a Minsk resident, was detained. He had taken a few friends on board to give them “a bird’s eye view of the city” but had to make an emergency landing due to a technical problem. The pilot had not asked air traffic controllers for landing permission. It was uclear whether the passengers were also detained.
