Tigers’ Martinez, Young in Game 4 lineup

There seems to be as good a chance for a pair of healthy lineups in the American League Championship Series as a sunny day in Detroit or Texas.

But that probably will change — as far as each team’s lineups — for Wednesday’s 4:19 p.m. ET begin in Game 4 at Comerica Park in Detroit, where light drizzle fell earlier in the day.

Both Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez and left-fielder Delmon Young were penciled into the starting lineup after dealing with injuries in Tuesday’s 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Martinez will bat clean-up despite straining his oblique (rib cage muscle) while hitting a home run Tuesday. He remained in the game.

Young will bat fifth behind Martinez in Wednesday’s contest after missing Game 3 with a left oblique injury. He first sustained the injury in an AL Division Series-clinching win over the New York Yankees.

Young homered earlier in that fifth and deciding game and set a club record with three homers in the series against the Yankees.

For the Rangers, third baseman Adrian Beltre (knee) will take the field after looking uncomfortable when he fouled a ball off his left knee in Tuesday’s game.

X-rays came back negative and Beltre, who tied with Ian Kinsler for the team lead in home runs in the regular season with 32, will play through the pain for now.

Also, struggling Texas outfielder David Murphy returns to the starting lineup.
